You’re invited to a Shadow School Yoga Challenge 

October 1st- October 30th, 2021

Join us for an exhilarating 30-day experience that asks you to make space to surface the subconscious aspects of yourself. You’ll be tasked with tenderly examining the pieces of your persona you avoid or suppress and perhaps unconsciously overlook with yoga, mantra, meditation, and journaling prompts to encourage you through your process.

Shadow School is your summons to acknowledge your wild side, surface intense emotions, and expunge the parts of yourself you no longer need. You are ready to face the core beliefs, motivations, desires, and aspirations that bring darkness and lightness into your life.

We must eat our own shadowhaul it up from out of the pit and develop a conscious connection with it. Shadow School Yoga Challenge asks that you be open to receiving all parts of yourself; the sticky, uncomfortable, and undesirable.

You are ready to sit in all of it.

You will be supported by a community AND prompted to reflect with meditation, journaling questions, and classes themed on the emotions we’d rather ignore.

Fear, Grief, Anger, Shame, Guilt, Duplicity, Illusion, Attachment; you will tenderly examine and express each emotion in a Lila Flow Yoga class featuring original music by Pete Wonder. 

You will enter the storm. You will ride the turbulence. You will receive the beauty and gems of your efforts as you progress through the Lila Flow Shadow School.

Why Shadow School?

Inspired by one of her teachers, Rob Brezsney, Clara themed the latest Lila Flow Yoga Series to unearth the darker emotions we experience.

Shadow School takes this concept one step further to consider the unconscious aspects of the psyche, or as Carl Jung calls it, the Shadow

“It is by going down into the abyss that you recover the treasures of life,” wrote Joseph Campbell. “Where you stumble, there lies your treasure.”

Jungian psychologists believe that you must confront your Shadow and bring it to the Light to awaken your inner divinity.

Rob Brezney writes: “Neuroscientists at Britain’s Bristol University have concluded that playing in the dirt can make you feel really good. That’s because most soil is crawling with species of bacteria that interact favourably with the human body, strengthening the immune system and stimulating the brain in the same way antidepressants do.

Let’s hypothesize that this is an apt metaphor for playing in the dirt of the shadow.”

Here’s How You Join Shadow School Yoga Challenge

If you’re already a member of the #PracticeWithClara community, you’re all set. You’ll see the Challenge Playlist in the Apps on September 27th.

If you’re not yet a member, join us for free for the duration of the 30-day challenge – Here’s how:

  1. Click here and choose the monthly subscription option 
  2. Use the coupon code ▴ RELEASED SEPTEMBER 24th ▴ at checkout to get the challenge for free.

New members will be able to access the challenge, and if you’ve enjoyed practicing with us, you can continue with your subscription.

Important for new members:

It’s important to note that if you do not cancel your membership once the coupon code has expired, your paid subscription will begin and charge the $15.99 monthly fee.

Timeline for the challenge:

  • September 24th: the coupon code for the challenge will be released for new members to access the challenge for free. 
  • September 27th: the Challenge Playlist will appear at the top of the #PracticeWithClara Catalog, including the web app and all apps. iPhoneIpadApple TVAndroid phone and tabletRokuAmazon Fire TVAndroid TV.
  • October 1st: Shadow School Virtual Yoga Challenge begins.
  • November 3rd: we’ll send out a short form to be filled out by those who completed the 30-days to be eligible to win prizes. 

We’ll check to see that you logged into the apps every day of the month, and from that list, we will hold a raffle to give out the prizes from our partners! Here is the clip of the raffle from one of our past challenges.

Rules for the challenge:

  1. Practitioners must complete the 30 days of yoga; however, we invite you to move the classes around to serve how you feel—if you’re tired, don’t push yourself. The point is making it to your mat every day, which counts towards the 30 days! Take savasana or rest on your mat when you need it.
  2.  Practitioners are encouraged to interact with the day’s class by typing YES in the comments in the PWC App or the private Facebook Group. This practice promotes motivation, positivity, and inclusion within the community. 
  3. The challenge is completely free for all new members for the month by using the coupon code. If you don’t cancel your subscription at the end of the challenge, you will be charged the monthly billing charge.

The 30-day virtual yoga challenges are free for all new members of Practice with Clara as we want to support and sustain the community-at-large, which means providing yoga to those who may not be able to afford it otherwise.

How we help hold you accountable:

The best way to create a habit is through accountability. Check-in each day with the Practice with Clara community to hold yourself accountable for completing your month of yoga!

Here are three ways for you to get in touch and say YES to completing the daily classes. 

  1. In the PWC App:  type ∾ YES ∾ in the comments after you finish the class to share that you’ve done your yoga.
  2. In the PWC FB Group: We will post the class daily; you can type ∾ YES ∾ in the comments to share that you’ve done your yoga.
  3. Daily notifications via the App – We will be sending a daily notification through the PWC app – you can opt-in through the app settings, and you can also opt-out if you’d prefer not to receive it.
