The Lila School of Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Philosophy

I want students to complete each class and training with knowledge of moving from a place of their inner power. I hope that we learn how to trust and also trust our instincts. As yoga teachers, we teach the physical poses, but what we’re doing is holding space for people to experience themselves.

  • Looking to deepen their own practice
  • Learn the key anatomical points for each pose/asana
  • Learn how to transition into and out of each pose safely
  • Learn how to create holistic sequences for either their home practice or to share in a class setting
  • Interested in mantra and meditation
  • Learn about the history and different schools of Yoga
  • Understand the subtle body (chakras, pranayama)
  • Learn more about the business of Yoga
  • Learn more about the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training course now!
  • Learn different ways of sequencing vinyasa yoga
  • Dive deep into common injuries and what modifications to offer their students
  • How to teach and adjust advanced asana/poses
  • Receive feedback on their classes from their peers and lead teacher
  • Discuss and dissect the ancient as well as modern texts of Yoga
  • Learn how to lead mantra & meditation
  • Offer modifications and alternatives to pregnant students

My Initial Experience.

The first training I took back in 2003 was life-changing. I had just graduated from Film School and had decided that was not the industry for me. I was lost and not sure what I was going to do with my life. A dear friend and fellow yoga enthusiast had decided to take a training and invited me to join. I thought “why not?”

I was blown away at how rich the history, practice and application of the teachings were. I also realized I loved teaching!

Since then I have taken between 1-3 trainings a year and still do so. I love being a student. There’s so much to learn and it’s such a privilege to step out of the day-to-day and immerse myself in the practice and student community. When I lead training, I encourage my students to do the same.

My advice for training:

  • If you can, let go of the day-to-day and immerse yourself in this beautiful practice and through it, deepen your connection to the divinity that lives with you.

  • Be open to what the teacher has to offer, even if you don’t agree with it. There’s always something to learn.

  • Be open to changing your mind about EVERYTHING!

  • Ask a lot of questions to the teacher and to yourself.

  • Share your thoughts and opinions with the group, we can learn so much from each other.
