Creative Flow (22-min) Vinyasa

Dynamic, fluid, and fun, this creative flow vinyasa class focuses on the energy of Svadhisthana, the second chakra.

Style: Vinyasa

Duration: 22-min

Level: Open-levels

Props: 2-Blocks

Focus: General

Location: Stretch Yoga Studio,Vancouver, BC

Svadhisthana is associated with water and creativity. Focusing on this area we develop our self expression and capacity to relate to others and the world around us.

The second chakra is located at the sacrum around the lower hips and pelvis. This creative flow sequence develops hip opening and challenges one’s flexibility.

Clara and the students of Vinyasa Yoga guide through progressive waves, starting in Anjaneyasana (lunge pose), Utthan Pristhasana (lizard pose), and a flow through high or low crescent lunge with Prana Flow style breathing to open the chest and shoulders.

This wave builds to full Garudasana (eagle pose) where you’ll focus on lifting the elbows and hugging the arms and legs inwards to open the back body and breath into the back of your heart.

Your vinyasa yoga for the sacral chakra closes with outer hip stretching in a cross-toe forward fold. By walking the hands further to one side and away from the body you target the iliotibial (IT) band that runs along the outer thigh from the top of the pelvis to the shin.

Complete your practice with Baddha Konasana (bound angle pose) seated using two blocks to support the knees as you open the inner thighs and groins.

Meditation or savasana on the back are your options to close practice. This is an open-levels class filmed in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
