In this vinyasa flow sequence, you’ll be encouraged to focus on Jiva bandha by touching the tip of the tongue to the roof of the mouth. This naturally softens the jaw and creates awareness of crown chakra consciousness.

Style: Vinyasa

Duration: 22-min

Focus: General

Props: 2 Blocks (If needed)

Location: Vancouver, BC

Jiva (soul) bandha (seal or lock) connects to the crown and the third eye center where our liberation lives. It is said that by connecting to the crown chakra, one may discover their universal consciousness and connection to all beings.

This intermediate vinyasa class includes various modifications for yogis of all levels in their practice. Sushumna mudra and Venus mudra are integrated into the flow to assist yogis in aligning and focusing on the breath.

Mudras stimulate different parts of the body and equally affect and direct the flow of energy.

Variations on sun salutations are followed by a series of poses to lengthen the side waist with peaceful warrior and side angle pose.

Your crown chakra flow wraps up with one backbend of choice on your back, with Urdhva Dhanurasana (wheel pose), Setu Bandhasana (bridge pose), or a supported bridge pose. You’ll close by hugging knees to chest or taking Ananda Balasana (happy baby pose) and savasana.

Yogis are given the option to take a supported savasana with blocks behind the knees or Supta Baddha Konasana (reclined bound angle pose) to soften and close their practice.

As you move through this sequence, close your eyes and ask, can I widen my own perspective to observe the world around me
